In addition to our national history, our chapter Beta
Xi has a history of it's own. In 1998, here at San Jose State University, an interest group was started. After a year and
a half of hard work and dedication, ten lovely ladies established Beta Xi chapter on January 19, 2000.
The ten Founding Sisters established a chapter for several
reasons. Some of these reasons being to have a support group for minority women, for community involvement, for sisterhood,
and most importantly, for academic excellence. Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. met the Founding Sister's goals and
for this reason established Beta Xi chapter, making it the third chapter in the West Coast.
After three years there have been three more interest
groups, which brought along fourteen ladies in 2001, four in 2002 and two more ladies in 2003. Now, as our
chapter continues with new sisters on campus, we continue to engage in community service projects, and continue to develop
socially, professionally and most importantly as an academic organization.
